Christian Petersen began his professional piano studies as a young talented student at the Frankfurt Conservatory in his hometown. He later completed his Master of Music in Piano Performance and Performer's Degree with Prof. Anatol Ugorski at the Conservatory of Music in Detmold, Germany, where he graduated with honors 南宫体育.
Through the years of study and collaborative processes, he has been influenced by masters such as Leon Fleisher, Christian Zacharias, Alexis Weissenberg and Renate Kretschmar-Fischer in terms of artistic style and educational philosophy.
In 1997 Christian Petersen was awarded the title of Federal Young Artist at the German Federal Music Competition (piano solo) and in 2000 he won the Grand Prix at the Beethoven Piano Competition.
His playing career has taken him all over Europe as well as to Japan, China, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
In Germany he has been invited to the Rheingau Festival, the Lake Constance Festival, the Moselle Festival and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.
In his solo career he has so far performed with world renowned orchestras such as the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Zurich Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Vogler Quartet, to name a few.
He has also made numerous recordings. His recordings of Beethoven's Variations, Mendelssohn and Brahms have been described by leading journals as technically and sonically comparable to the recordings of the renowned Maestro Brandl (Pianonews) 南宫体育.
Christian Petersen is also a member of the jury of numerous German and international competitions, such as the German Youth Music Competition and the Grand Prix André Dumortier 2018 in Belgium 南宫体育. In addition he is regularly invited to give masterclasses in Germany, Italy and Japan.
He has long experience in piano education, and right after graduation he was a teaching assistant to Prof. Anatol Ugorski and Prof. Bob Westerg at the German National Conservatory of Music in Detmold 南宫体育. In the following years he was also on the piano faculty of the Academy of Arts in Bremen and the Kassel Academy of Music.
Since the winter semester of 2018, he has been employed as Professor of Piano Performance at the University of the Arts Berlin 南宫体育. He is the youngest professor of piano in the history of the university.
